Morocco: On Méditel’s path, Inwi invest in ADSL

Thursday, 26 November 2015 08:53

While traditional telecom operator Maroc Telecom delays in the release of its full unbundling offer as required by the National Agency for Telecom Regulation (ANRT), mobile telephony operators have started investing in ADSL. In fact, Inwi just launched its first offer for fixed-line broadband Internet named I-Dar ADSL for individuals.

This service offers customers an unlimited access to broadband Internet up to 20 Mb/s, unlimited calls for local land-to-land as well two hours of communication for land-to-mobile local at a cost of 249 Dirhams per month ($24.80). A free router is also offered for a 12-months subscription period. To subscribe to Inwi’s Internet offer, one must have a fixed or active ADSL line. At first, Inwi’s ADSL offer will be available only in Casablanca and Rabat.

With this offer, Inwi enters the ADSL market like Méditel previously did. Indeed, the Orange subsidiary introduced its ADSL offer on October 23, 2015. Including a fixed line and Internet access, Méditel’s offer, unlike Inwi’s, gives access to a broadband of up to 12 Mbps only. However, Inwi’s offer costs 9 Dirhams more than Méditel’s.

Both operators offer the same advantages for unlimited calls for land-to-land locals and two hours of communication with domestic mobile.
