Last year, at the start of the commercialisation by Algeria Telecom of “4Gfixe” throughout the country, Zohra Derdouri, former Minister of Post and Telecommunications, revealed that the commercialisation of 4G mobile would occur in the first quarter of 2016. In the run-up to this target date, the Ministry of Posts, IT and Telecommunications and the regulatory agency for post and telecommunications (ARTP) are currently in the process of drafting the required terms of reference.
According to the new Minister of Post, Telecoms and IT, Houda Imane Feraoun (photo), the wish is that the terms of reference for 4G mobile “are ready by the end of the year”. A first release of the said terms of reference for 4G mobile have already been transmitted to ARPT for approval, the Minister emphasised to the press. She specified that telecom operators have been actively included in the drafting of this text.
On an inspection and working visit with telecom operators in the province of Algiers, on 24 August 2015, Houda Imane Feraoun took the opportunity to question them on the quality of their services. She would like the number of customer complaints to drop once and for all.
