Over the 1,100 km which were to be installed in 18 months, 900 km have already been laid, reports Socialnetlink.org.
12 technical centres out of 18 have been established. These are in Owendo, Nkok, Ntoum, Ndjolé, Booué, Lastourville, Koulamoutou, Moanda, Bakoumba, Bongoville, Lékoni and Franceville.
6 technical centres built to host connections points of the fiber optic were also established in Oyane, Ayem, Lopé, Milolé and Lifouta. According to terms of the CAB4, the cable is to pass through 26 towns across Gabon.
Despite a three month delay on the project’s initial schedule, installation of fiber optic cable to Mbinda, the connection point with Congo, should be completed in the third quarter of 2016.
Installation works for fiber optic, Gabon and Congo will be definitively connected via high-speed infrastructure. Works started in June 2015 in each of the countries involved in the project and almost completed.
