Speaking during the radio program l’Expresso aired by Express FM, the Tunisian minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Noômane Fehri, said on May 30, 2016, that Tunisie Telecom would soon be listed on the Tunis stock market. The minister highlighted that only the 65% stake held by the government will be introduced in the bourse. However, the government will still hold majority of this stake because “Tunisie Telecom is a public firm”.
Actually in a globalization process, marked by its will to acquire Maltese telecom group GO, the Tunisian government is aware that the State’s financial support will not be enough to take care of its charges and that of its foreign subsidiaries which should grow in number by next year.
By increasing its shareholding, Tunisie Telecom could easily raise funds on the international market to pursue its development projects. Tunisia Telecom, by listing, should increase its chances to get new customers and partners.
