(Ecofin Agency) - Twentieth Century Fox lands in Africa though Nigeria and Ghana. The American studios just signed a distribution contract in both countries, namely with Nigerian firm FilmOne Distribution that has significantly expanded in West Africa. For Fox, this is the first partnership of the type in the region.
According to the contract, FilmOne is to start distibution in Nigeria and Ghana starting from July 1, 2016, with Independence Day: Resurgence. Other movies are also going to be released this year including Ice Age (Collision Course), The Birth of a Nation and Assassin Creed.
This contract falls in line with Fox’s strategy to expand in Africa, said Paul Higginson, vice-president in charge of international distribution for Africa-Europe-Middle East. He believes Nigeria to be a market of significant value in which the group must invest. Nigeria indeed contributes greatly to Africa’s growth, said Kene Mkparu, president of group comprising FilmOne Distribution and Filmhous Cinemas.
Also, Fox movies will be commercialized through innovative and appealing campaigns, revealed Moses Babatope, Chief of operations and Vice president of FilmOne Distribution.
Twentieth Century Fow is one of the world’s biggest studios. It produces, buys and distributes movies.
