Ghana is seeking to deepen its digital transformation through closer cooperation with the Digital Cooperation Organization, as its Ambassador to Saudi Arabia formally engaged the organization to expand partnerships in key digital sectors.
On April 6, during a visit to the DCO headquarters in Riyadh, Alhaji Said Saleh Sinare presented his credentials as Ghana’s Diplomatic Liaison to the organization and held discussions with Deemah AlYahya on strengthening cooperation in digital transformation.
Ghana, with around 75% nationwide internet penetration + 119% mobile connectivity, is a strong example of Africa’s rise as a digital hub.

The talks focused on expanding collaboration in fintech, healthtech, agri-tech and e-commerce, sectors increasingly viewed as central to Ghana’s digital economy and broader growth strategy.
Ghana’s digital readiness featured prominently in the discussions. According to the DCO, the country has around 75% internet penetration and 119% mobile connectivity, alongside a 73.1% score in digital adoption for social inclusion under its Digital Economy Navigator framework.
Speaking after the meeting, Deemah AlYahya described Ghana as a strong example of digital progress on the continent, noting that “Ghana’s strong performance in digital adoption for social inclusion reflects its remarkable digital momentum.” She added that the DCO looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Ghana to advance digital transformation and expand opportunities across sectors.
For his part, Ambassador Sinare said the engagement opens new avenues for collaboration, particularly in scaling innovation-driven sectors. “We discussed Ghana’s exciting digital progress and explored ways to strengthen collaboration in fintech, healthtech, agri-tech, and e-commerce,” he said, highlighting plans to expand digital opportunities across the country.
A key area of focus is the extension of digital infrastructure and services to Ghana’s five northern regions, where authorities aim to improve connectivity, digital skills and access to online economic opportunities.
