  • Platforms enable online procedures, payments, and real-time tracking
  • Move aims to improve transparency, access, and administrative efficiency

Burkina Faso’s Treasury launched two digital platforms on Friday, Lanaya and e-BDT, aimed at modernizing operations and simplifying administrative procedures.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Crafts, Lanaya allows users to complete certain administrative procedures, submit applications and track payment requests in real time.

e-BDT provides digital banking services, enabling users to carry out transactions online and access Treasury services at any time. The goal is to keep pace with a changing economic environment and meet the expectations of increasingly digital users, the ministry said.

The initiative reflects efforts by the authorities to streamline procedures and cut processing times. By reducing in-person interactions, the tools are also expected to improve transparency and the tracking of financial transactions, a persistent challenge in public administration.

The move aligns with a broader trend across Africa, where governments are adopting digital technologies to modernize public services. In Burkina Faso, the platforms are also intended to expand access, particularly for businesses outside major cities. No figures have been released on the expected benefits for the tax administration.
