Burkina Faso’s Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, met with a delegation from the African diaspora on Thursday, November 6, 2025. The group was led by Arikana Chihombori, former African Union Representative to the United States. No agreements were signed at this stage.

The delegation presented several projects currently in development, including plans to set up a pan-African media hub in Ouagadougou to counter disinformation and a digital skills exchange program involving young professionals from the diaspora. A follow-up mechanism will be established to assess feasibility, identify priority sectors, and turn these discussions into tangible outcomes.

We want real projects, real action, and measurable results. Your proposals align perfectly with our vision,” said Minister Zerbo/Sabane.

The meeting forms part of a broader effort to strengthen ties between the African diaspora and the continent, while exploring investment opportunities in emerging technologies. Discussions focused on collaboration in training, skills exchange, and strengthening local digital capacity.

The Minister added, “There’s still a gap between available skills and Africa’s real needs, especially in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and emerging tech. If we want to benefit from these innovations, we must strengthen our local capabilities.
