  • Gabon held the 5th steering committee for the eGabon and Gabon Digital programs on February 23.

  • Authorities aim to strengthen interministerial coordination and improve disbursement rates.

  • The government wants to shift from project structuring to accelerated execution.

In Gabon, the Ministry of Digital Economy announced on February 23, that officials adopted strategic decisions during the 5th steering committee meeting of the eGabon and Gabon Digital programs. The government aims to accelerate execution of public digital projects and deliver more visible results to citizens.

Officials plan to strengthen strategic oversight of projects through tighter monitoring of performance indicators and improved coordination among participating ministries. The government also intends to consolidate the legal and institutional framework governing digital transformation and to enhance the skills of civil servants who will operate new digital platforms. Officials have included the long-term sustainability of deployed digital infrastructure among their priorities.

“The observation is clear: the foundations are in place, but interministerial coordination must be strengthened and the disbursement rate, which remains too low, must increase so that committed financing produces tangible results for citizens,” the ministry said.

Through the eGabon and Gabon Digital programs, the executive branch seeks to simplify administrative procedures, reduce processing times and improve transparency in public administration. Authorities stated that they want to move from a project structuring phase to a phase of accelerated execution.
