  • Orezone maintains 2026 output target of 160,000–180,000 ounces

  • Expansion plant supports ramp-up and higher production outlook

Burkina Faso’s Bomboré gold mine reported a strong start to 2026, with production rising sharply in the first quarter.

The mine produced 37,563 ounces between January and March, up 30% from 28,688 ounces recorded during the same period in 2025, according to figures released on April 23 by operator Orezone Gold. The increase reflects the expected ramp-up of operations at the site this year.

Following the commissioning of an additional processing plant in December 2025, Orezone is targeting a significant increase in output for 2026. The company has maintained its production forecast of between 160,000 and 180,000 ounces, compared with total output of 110,014 ounces in 2025.

According to the company, the phase 1 hard rock processing plant, with a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, reached commercial production on January 16, 2026, after first gold was poured on December 15, 2025. During the quarter, throughput exceeded design capacity by about 10%, while mining rates remained in line with budget expectations.

Orezone expects further gains in performance over the coming months, with production set to increase more strongly in the second half of the year. Higher output could translate into stronger sales, especially in a context of elevated gold prices observed in recent months.

Bomboré is owned 90% by Orezone Gold, with the remaining 10% held by the Burkina Faso government.
