Steinmeier said vocational training for young people was a key topic in his talks with Mahama, with a focus on creating quality jobs in sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and the digital economy. The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation on energy efficiency and renewable energy development.
The announcement came as Steinmeier began a three-day visit to Ghana aimed at deepening bilateral relations. Accra and Berlin maintain close cooperation, particularly in the fields of health and science.
Under its national development agenda, Ghana plans to mobilize about $4 billion over the next four years to implement the “24-Hour Economy” program, which seeks to transform the country’s economic structure, enhance resilience, and create 1.7 million jobs to boost industrialization.
According to the African Development Bank’s 2024–2029 Country Strategy Paper, Ghana aims to increase investment in agriculture and job creation, strengthen skills and the business environment to support private sector growth, and improve infrastructure and energy.
Both countries also agreed to hold regular high-level political consultations on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
