Finland expresses readiness to build Cyber security system in Nigeria

Wednesday, 14 June 2017 16:39

Finland has expressed its readiness to construct a cyber-security system in Nigeria and establish new ICT services in the country. In addition, the Northern European nation also plans to invest in infrastructure development, as it would facilitate changes in Nigeria.

Speaking during a visit to her Nigerian counterpart, Adebayo Shittu, Finland’s Minister of Transportation and Communications, Anne Berner (photo), said the meeting was aimed at discussing areas of synergy in ICT between the two countries.

She explained that the partnership would be beneficial for country in terms of trade and investment which would aid in job creation, increase the economy, amongst others.

The Minister disclosed that Finland is partnering with both the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and calls for a favorable business climate with a reduced cost of production.

Let’s recall that earlier this month, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced plans to construct a $1billion ICT company to improve indigenous technology in the country.

ICT currently accounts for at least 10% of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product and has been considered as one of the vehicles that will drive the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Federal Government.
