A total of 144 hotels and holiday resorts of a capacity of 25,000 beds will be built in Alger by 2017, reported the Algerian Press Agency APS on 31 August, quoting the Tourism Director of Alger wilaya, Salah Benakmoum.
“The 144 new projects intended for the construction of hotels and holiday resorts in Alger will enable us to have 25,000 new hotel beds by 2017”, underlined Mr. Benakmoum, indicating that these projects should generate 15,000 jobs in Alger when completed.
The Algerian capital currently has 172 hotels with a capacity of about 20,000 beds, according to the Tourism Office.
75 hotels have already been rated while other applications are under review.
Five hotels will be rated 5 stars, 2 as 4 stars and 18 as 3 stars while the others will hold a lesser rating.
