Businessmen from Saudi Arabia will invest $4 billion in various projects in Egypt, Vice President of Saudi Arabia-Egypt affairs council, Abdullah bin Mahfouz said on April 5.
Cited by Reuters, Mr. bin Mahfouz indicated that the investments would be directed toward energy, agriculture, import-export, health and logistics sectors.
“10% of the capital has been deposited in Egyptian banks, they will complete 25% within three” months, he said
Agreements related to the investments should be signed during the visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz to Cairo starting April 7.
Over the past few years, Saudi Arabia granted billions of dollars of aid to Egypt in fuel, or cash and deposits to the Central Bank. Quite opposed to the Muslim Brotherhood, which includes fallen president Mohamed Mursi, the Saudi monarchy invests heavily in Egypt to insure that Abdel Fattah al Sissi, Morsi’s successor.
