Swiss investment firm, Quantum Global Group (QGG) just said it plans to invest $50 million in Angola’s agro-forestry industry. The funding will extend over five years and be directed to the Huambo region where QGG obtained a 60-year concession over 80,000 hectares, a release from the group’s administration revealed.
Besides agro-forestry, QGG will also invest in the construction of industrial units and infrastructures which are to use the wood produced. According to the firm, Angola’s central region presents a unique profile for this activity, due to the combination of large arable lands, forest resources, a relatively weak demography, a good access to roads and to water as well. It should be highlighted that the investment is part of the strategy of Angolan government for wood exploitation.
The country which produced 125,000 m3, in 2015, aims to produce 230,000 m3 by 2017.
