Hotels chain InterContinental Hotels Group plans to open new hotels in Algeria, Ethiopia and Uganda, reports How we made it in Africa on August 2, citing one of the group’s executives. “We will enter three new countries in Africa over the coming years: Ethiopia, Uganda and Algeria,” said the group’s director of operations in Africa, Simon Stamper. The opportunity across Africa remains clear and our team is going to be making the most of that throughout 2016 and beyond, he added.
InterContinental Hotels Group is already present in nine African countries where it has 25 hotels, including Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and Kenya.
In the world, the group has 5,000 hotels and close to 742,000 rooms in about 100 nations. It also manages the portfolio of many hotel brands of which InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Crowne Plaza.
