French hotel chain Louvre Hotels Group plans to open 16 new hotels in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) in 2016, Hospitality On reported on April 6, citing an executive from the group.
“Our goal is to be able to accompany our clients wherever they might go in Africa, by giving them the quality corresponding to their needs,” said the group’s president for Francophone and Eastern Africa, Alain Sebat. “The tourism industry is rapidly developing in the region, business tourism most especially,” he added.
The first of the 16 hotels to be built this year has already opened in Nairobi, Kenya. Indeed, the Golden Tulip Westlands Nairobi as it is called was officially commissioned on April 6 has 94 rooms, restaurants, spas, pools and conference rooms.
