The French industrial group Alstom announced, on 13th October, that it will supply Casa Transports, the Casablanca public transport company, with 50 additional tramways for the extension of the network of the economy capital of Morocco, worth € 100 million.
"Alstom was awarded a contract by Casa Transports for the supply of 50 tramways Citadis meant for use on the new tramway section which will be available to users by end 2018", Alstom indicated in a communiqué.
Casa Transports, who decided to prolong by 22 km its current 31 km long tramway line, also ordered the associated power and signalisation equipment from Alstom.
First metropolis of the Maghreb, Casablanca today has 74 tramways on its network which was commissioned in December 2012.
