During his speech to the nation, for the 55th anniversary of the independence of Gabon, the head of state announced several decisions including the creation of a National Council of Traditional Chieftaincies of Gabon, and above all, the transfer of his part of the inheritance from his father to a foundation for youth and education.
"Given the numerous difficulties, accentuated by very challenging economic conditions, I've decided, with the full support of my wife Sylvia BONGO ONDIMBA and my children, that my inheritance will be shared with the entire Gabonese Youth, as, for me, all the young people of this country are the heirs of Omar BONGO ONDIMBA.
In practical terms, this means that all the revenues from the part of the inheritance which belong to me, will be donated to a foundation for youth and education, as everyone knows, and I repeat it, that the youth was sacred in the eyes of President Omar BONGO ONDIMBA, this illustrious Bantu." the Gabonese president declared.
