The 2014 Human Development Index (HDI) published on December 15 by UNDP – United Nations Development Program - revealed a slight progress of DR Congo in the rankings.
The nation moved from 186th position (out of 187) in 2013 up to the 176th (out of 188) in 2014, the new ranking shows.
DR Congo has indeed improved in terms of life expectancy at birth (in years), expected and mean years of schooling as well as Gross National Income (GNI) per capita.
HDI is based on three major indexes : GNP per capita (expressed in dollars, converted using power parity rates), life expectancy at birth (in years) and access to knowledge measured by determining average number of years of education received in a lifetime by people aged 25 and expected years of schooling for children of school-entrance age (in years).
