The GDP per capita of Algeria has registered a slight drop in 2014, to reach USD 5,460.1 against USD 5,474.9 in 2013, according to data published on 17 August by the National Office of Statistic (ONS).
The GDP of this North African oil-producing country was of 17,205.1 billion Algerian dinars (approximately USD 213.5 billion) in 2014, against 16,643.8 billion dinars in 2013, added the same source.
The Algerian economy has thus grown by 3.8% in 2014 against 2.8% in 2013. The improvement in the economic growth rate is the result of the recovery of the hydrocarbons sector which “seems to have come out of the slowdown cycle in 2014”, comments the Office.
Due to its importance in the formulation of the Algerian GDP, the hydrocarbons sector costs a few growth points on a regular basis since its slowing down from 2006, according to ONS.
