ECOWAS and Chinese CGCOC sign agreements to implement infrastructure and transport projects

ECOWAS announced on January 22 it has signed with the Chinese CGC Overseas Construction Group (CGCOC Group) various memorandum of understanding related to five important transport and infrastructure projects.

These five MoUs include the trans-west African railway, trans-west African coastal highway, telecommunication infrastructures in the region, west-African regional aviation, and construction of ECOWAS’ new headquarters and annexes in Nigeria.

No detail has been given regarding the sums to be invested, work duration or superficies covered by the projects.

The signing ceremony for these agreements was held on January 20, in Abuja, Nigeria’s administrative capital, at the headquarters of CGCOC’s new Nigerian subsidiary.
