Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines plan to reinforce their cooperation in various aspects, Turkisj press agency Anadolu said.
After a meeting held on May 26 in Addis Ababa, the CEO of Turkish Airlines, Temel Kotil and his counterpart from Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam, have agreed on the necessity to pursue discussions to reach this goal. “This is about cooperation, collaboration, partnership, code sharing, common enterprises,” said Gebremariam.
With this partnership, Turkish Airlines expands more its wings over the African sky. In three years, the Turkish firm which currently serves 48 destinations across the continent has doubled its network with a fleet of 299 planes. As for Ethiopian Airlines, it should reinforce its position as the leader of African airlines in terms of fleet, destinations served, number of passengers, freight volume, and turnover.
Africa’s air industry shows promising perspectives. According to the African Commission for Civic Aviation (AFCA), this sector should grow by 8% in average over the next five years.
