YJC Power to partner with Hyacinth Automotive on a lithium-battery factory
Project aims to support local production and strengthen Tunisia’s EV ecosystem
Initiative positions Tunisia as a regional hub for energy-storage technology
JC Power, a Chinese company specializing in energy-storage systems, plans to build a lithium-battery plant for electric vehicles in Tunisia in partnership with Hyacinth Automotive, the local distributor of Cenntro, Avantier, and RapSev. The announcement followed a meeting last week between a YJC Power delegation and Tunisia’s minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Chiboub Thabet.

The industrial project, intended to serve both local and regional markets, “falls within the framework of supporting local production of batteries and electronic systems to promote electric mobility through the development of energy-storage technologies and the strengthening of national industrial competitiveness,” the ministry said, without providing details on the planned investment amount or production capacity.
The Chinese company highlighted Tunisia’s advantages, particularly its industrial infrastructure and human capital, stressing the country’s strategic role as a production and innovation hub and as a gateway to European and African markets. Hyacinth Automotive added that the project also includes developing other types of energy-storage solutions, as well as establishing a “clean and sustainable ecosystem based on battery recycling for the benefit of Tunisia and Africa.”
Founded in 2016, YJC Power specializes in intelligent renewable-energy solutions. Its activities include the design and manufacturing of residential, commercial, and industrial energy-storage systems, the development of batteries for electric vehicles and boats, and cloud-based solutions for energy-data management.
