Equatorial Guinea's Telecom Infrastructure Manager (GITGE) announced it will strengthen Internet speed in the country to support the combat against the coronavirus.
Under this strategy, GITGE will provide an Internet speed of 100 Mbps to the research laboratory of the Institute of Public Health Investigations in the Baney district of Bioko Norte province, and the Sampaka hospital. These two institutions play a fundamental role in the fight against the disease. The strengthened data capacity will also greatly facilitate the communication activities of the Technical Committee for Surveillance and Response to the New Coronavirus.
At the population level, GITGE will increase mobile Internet capacity by 30% and the National Ethernet connection by 100%. The objective, in this period of restricted movement and social and professional groupings, is to enable people to continue to exchange with friends and family, study and work.
