Congo: South African Bvutiselo Group wants to install a smart village in the country

Friday, 08 December 2017 14:02

The Bvutiselo Group has told the Congolese minister of posts, telecommunications and digital economy, Léon Juste Ibombo, of its plans to set shop in Congo. During a meeting with the Head of the telecom sector, last week, Dick Bvuma, managing director of the South African company, explained that the goal is to deploy a Smart village in the country. During this meeting, the executive was with the South African ambassador to Congo, Richard Baloyi.

Bvutiselo Group’s interest for Congo arose after it took part this year to a digital-focused workshop organized in Brazzaville by the Congolese government. This had enabled the various institutional actors of the Congolese ICT and telecom sector to discuss various projects likely to help the nation develop its digital economy. Among these was the project for smart villages. These infrastructures will allow populations to connect via ICT and access various public services.

Léon Juste Ibombo has reassured the Bvutiselo Group about all the possibilities and facilities that Congo will put at its disposal to concretize its project and set foot in the country. The minister explained that the South African company could help the government in developing digital governance.
