On October 1, 2015, mobile operator Telma grabbed Comoros’ second telecom licence, thus ending monopoly of incumbent operator Comores Telecom. For its arrival, Telma promised to bring 4G technology to consumers. During press conference held on December 14, 2015, few hours before acquiring licence, Telma’s CEO Patrick Pisalhamda said the company would “bring the latest technology”, that being 4G.
The group plans to invest 50 billion USD in various projects. “By 2016 ending, our goal is to insure a global coverage of territory and people: voice services, 3G mobile internet, FTTX high-speed 4G,” added Telma’s boss who addressed the Comorian population saying his company would offer them a brand new experience. In order to rapidly win market shares, Telma will provide high-quality services which can be easily accessed. The company bases its development strategy on health and education through the introduction of e-health and e-education.
Patrick Pisalhamda also promised to sustain a “healthy relationship” with its rival Comores Telecom. “As a competitor, we are going to be relentless, but we will cooperate regarding infrastructures”, he said.
