Axian through its subsidiary TOGOCOM signs a strategic partnership with the Industrial Platform of Adetikope in line with its commitment to the development of the e-industry on the continent.
TOGOCOM was born in 2017 from the merger of the national fixed-line incumbent operator and the mobile network operator, Togo Telecom and Togocel respectively. The ambition of the Axian Group is to make Togo a reference in the digital sector in the region and across the continent. Axian, along with TOGOCOM, activated the first 5G network powered by NOKIA on November 27th for the first time in West Africa.
Today TOGOCOM remains committed to the development and economic attractiveness of Togo. Through this strategic partnership with the Industrial Platform of Adetikope (IPA), a very-high- speed and reliable connection is provided by Togocom to promote the e-industry. IPA is a consortium commissioned with the development and management of an industrial zone and its integrated logistics services. The implementation of this wide-scale project requires the site being equipped with electronic communication infrastructures consisting of fibre-optic, public WIFI and 5G mobile network. These cutting-edge technologies will support companies on IPA’s site in their long-term economic development.
This specific context implies the rolls out of the required equipment by Togocom to supply IPA’s needs of electronic communication solutions to ensure a high quality and immediate availability of services. This process guarantees safe access to the network as well as continuous equipment maintenance. This ground-breaking partnership brings together actors that share their beliefs in 5G’s potential to address the digitalisation’s challenges of businesses which have become a key objective amidst current health crisis for institutions.
Along with Axian’s commitment, the digital multiservice operator of the group encourages innovation and social initiatives that will take the country’s development to a globally competitive level in the future. The signing of this agreement with IPA leads to TOGOCOM’s strengthening of its vision and strategy to assist in the development of Togo’s industries, the focus of the National Development Plan (NDP).
“As the CEO of the Axian Group, I am proud of the accomplishments and the contribution of TOGOCOM to the economic influence of Africa while being the first western African operator to develop commercial 5G. This network technology is a vector enabling the response to the continent’s digital imperative and through this innovative agreement, a cornerstone has been laid for the development of the e-industry”, said Hassanein Hiridjee, CEO of Axian Group.
“We are pleased to sign this partnership agreement contributing to the improvement of performances and efficiency of the Adetikope Industrial Platform. A new technological era is opening up for IPA with this collaboration while providing its members adapted digital solutions. TOGOCOM’s commitment to technological development is thus renewed, while strengthening its position as a key partner of the digital transformation of companies which is aligned with the National Development Plan (NDP).” said Paulin Alazard, Managing Director of Togocom.
