Senegal and Sierra Leone strengthened their bilateral cooperation by signing a treaty covering the mining and energy sectors on Monday, April 20, in Dakar.

Authorities signed the agreement on the sidelines of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa. The treaty aims to structure closer cooperation in the exploration and exploitation of natural resources.

Moreover, both governments seek to enhance energy security while promoting investment flows into their respective mining and energy industries. They also plan to facilitate the sharing of technical expertise to improve sector efficiency.

In addition, Senegal and Sierra Leone intend to align their regulatory frameworks. This effort should ease the implementation of joint projects and improve cross-border collaboration in strategic sectors.
