Egyptian minister of information and communications technology, Amr Talaat, pledges for ICT cooperation between his country and Germany, particularly in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI), capacity building and research and development (R & D). This was on June 25 in Berlin, during the 22nd Arab-German Business Forum.
With Angela Ittel, Vice-President of Strategic Development at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), known for its advanced courses in engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering, Amr Talaat discussed the possibility of offering master's degree in the new administrative capital and in the Assiut and Beni Suef technology parks.
The minister also met Hans-Ulrich Heiss, Vice-President of Education, Digitization and Sustainable Development, with whom discussions focused on establishing a partnership to build youth capacity in AI techniques and data science; a partnership between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the Faculty IV - Electrical and Computer Engineering (EECS) of the Technical University of Berlin.
With Susanne Dehmel, MD of Law and Security at Bitkom, the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media, which brings together more than 2,600 international companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups specializing in the digital economy, Amr Talaat discussed cooperation in the introduction of AI in various sectors, such as healthcare, agriculture and manufacturing, as well as technology transfer through various programs and services provided by Bitkom member companies. They also discussed the potential cooperation between Bitkom and ITIDA in sharing expertise in the ICT sector.
Finally, Amr Talaat met Daniel Nathrath, CEO of Ada Health, a company specializing in the development of health services using AI tools, for a cooperation with ITIDA. The two sides also discussed the creation of an AI research center in Egypt.
