Shelter Afrique Development Bank (ShafDB) has appointed economist and former Benin prime minister Lionel Zinsou as chair of its board of directors, replacing Dr Chii Akporji. The announcement was made on Monday, December 15, by the multilateral development bank, which also confirmed the appointment of Said Athman Mtwana as vice chair.
ShafDB said the new appointments are key to helping the institution “fulfill its mission of financing affordable housing and urban development across Africa.”
“I am honored to take on the chairmanship of ShafDB at this pivotal moment in its transformation. Across our continent, the demand for decent, affordable housing and dynamic urban environments is both urgent and inspiring,” Zinsou said.
Lionel Zinsou brings long-standing experience in international finance, public policy, and private equity. Said Athman Mtwana is highlighted for his expertise in housing policy and urban development, areas central to the bank’s strategic focus.
