Côte d'Ivoire has just submitted as part of COP 21, its contribution to the attenuation of climate changes. It committed to lower its emissions of greenhouse gases by 28% by 2030. This commitment could rise to 36% if the country manages to get external support.
To reach its goals, the country intends to increase to 26% and 16% respectively the shares of hydroelectricity and other renewable energies in the energy mix. It is working at reducing greenhouse gases resulting from deforestation and degradation of forests and improving waste management.
The intensification and mechanisation of agriculture and livestock farming will also enable the country to keep up with its commitment.
If the country receives support from the international community, the shares of renewable energies could rise to 32% independently of the 26% for hydroelectricity.
