Togo Coffee, Cocoa Exports Up 50% in 2024/25 on Sector Reforms
Thursday, 02 October 2025 10:30

• 4,400 tons of coffee, 24,000 tons of cocoa shipped
• Government reforms, PDCC plan credited for gains

Togo’s 2024-2025 coffee and cocoa marketing season ended with a significant increase in export volumes compared with the previous season, the Coffee and Cocoa Sector Coordination Committee (CCFCC) announced.

The CCFCC presented the results late last week in Kpalimé, Togo’s main craft center, during the launch of the 2025-2026 sales campaign.

Exports for the 2024-2025 campaign rose sharply, with 4,400 metric tons of coffee and 24,000 tons of cocoa shipped. This marks an increase of approximately 50 percent for both commodities compared with the 2023-2024 season, which recorded exports of 2,618 tons of coffee and 11,182 tons of cocoa.

This growth is largely attributed to the commitment of industry stakeholders to boost the performance, competitiveness, and wealth creation of the sectors by 2030. The implementation of the Coffee-Cocoa Sector Development Plans (PDCC), adopted a year ago, played a key role. These policies aim for sustainable improvements in productivity and quality, development of processing, and strengthened marketing.

During the period, the CCFCC also signed employment contracts with 11 new product inspectors, bringing the total number of field staff to 16. Training and anti-smuggling efforts were also carried out.

The latest gains extend a recovery in coffee and cocoa exports that started in 2021, when shipments slumped. Coffee exports fell more than 23% to 2,000 tons, down from 2,600 tons in 2020, while cocoa exports halved to 5,400 tons from 10,600 tons a year earlier.
