Morocco consolidated its position as the world’s third-largest tomato exporter after Mexico and the Netherlands. The country strengthened its presence in the European Union, its main market, and set new export records.
Morocco generated €1.05 billion ($1.2 billion) from tomato shipments to the EU at the end of the 2024/2025 marketing season. Eurostat data show that the revenue increased 7% from the previous season and reached a new peak for the Moroccan industry.
The market expansion stemmed mainly from a rebound in export volumes. Moroccan suppliers shipped 573,730 tonnes of tomatoes to the EU between October 2024 and September 2025, up 8% year on year. The sector returned to growth after a slight slowdown in 2023/2024, when volumes fell 2% to 528,875 tonnes.

Evolution of Shipments to the EU During the 2024/2025 Campaign
France remained the dominant destination for Moroccan tomatoes within the EU. The country accounted for 75.45% of volumes, or 432,931 tonnes, in 2024/2025. Spain followed with 15.57%, and the Netherlands with 8%. Other markets—including Ireland and Germany—also increased their purchases during the period.
Morocco supplied 70% of the EU’s total tomato import volume in 2024/2025, estimated at 819,426 tonnes. The performance underscored the sector’s resilience despite domestic challenges such as drought and labor shortages.
