Gabon is deepening talks with Morocco to accelerate its digital transformation strategy, “Gabon Digital,” launched in November 2024. The initiative aims to modernize public services, attract investment, and foster a competitive digital economy.
The Gabonese Minister of Digital Economy met with executives from Maroc Telecom, Moov Africa Gabon Telecom, and Morocco’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) last week on the sidelines of the Africa Financial Summit 2025 (AFIS).
Officials said discussions focused on three key areas. The first aims to consolidate and diversify investments in digital infrastructure—particularly fiber optics—to enhance service quality and stimulate the growth of local start-ups.
The second area targets academic cooperation between Morocco’s National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT) and Gabon’s National Institute of Posts, Information and Communication Technologies (INPTIC). The partnership seeks to improve training in digital and ICT professions.
The third focuses on expanding internships and training programs for young Gabonese to better align with market demands.
This latest meeting follows earlier talks in early November between Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba, and Moroccan Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni.
Gabon plans to draw on Morocco’s experience in ICT development to support the rollout of “Gabon Digital.” Authorities aim to establish strategic partnerships that will reinforce administrative modernization and build a dynamic, competitive digital economy.
