(Ecofin Agency) - Senegal is gradually moving towards the digitalization of land management system. This was announced by the Chief Inspector of taxes and estates, Serigne Moussa Diop, during an exchange workshop with economic journalists on the country’s business environment reforms.
“Senegal will set a computerized land management system that will interconnect relevant technical services including, among others, the land register and the property services,” the official said as reported by Agence de Presse Sénégalaise.
“Following instruction from authorities, DGID (ed: Directorate-General of taxes and estates) committed to ease land access procedures and allow the regularization of land occupations, through a reliable interconnected system of all services. It is also planned to interconnect land conservation service which ensures land ownership, guaranteed under the Constitution,” he specified.
Moreover, Mr. Diop indicated that “this process was initiated since 2016. In April 2017, an international call for tender was launched and many offices, both national and international applied for it. Therefore, a company has been selected and very soon this company,which will implement the mechanism,will be publicly known”.
