The works were launched on 4th August in Kribi, during a ceremony chaired by Jean Pierre Biyiti bi Essam, Posts and Telecommunications Minister. The broadband infrastructure which will be managed by Cameroun Telecommunications Corporation (CAMTEL), the national Cameroonian operator, was presented by David Nkoto Emane, General Director for CAMTEL, as an asset which will help strengthen “the position of Cameroon as main broadband hub in the region and abroad”.
The Nigeria-Cameroon Submarine Cable System will deliver a capacity of 112.8 Tbps between the two countries. It joins the multiple fibre optic connections developed by Cameroon in the implementation of its national broadband network.
